I just finished watching a TV bit from a Seattle Realtor asking viewers to call him for a FREE Market Analysis. I have to believe that every home seller knows they are free...all of them! During these historical times, consumers (buyers and sellers alike) are going to be searching out professionals. How will they determine who is an expert in their field? Well, I know you'll find me biased, many will rely on reading blogs.
If you're finding a little spare time during this market (even if you're not), I highly encourage you to start your blog. It's okay to start slow...JUST DO IT!
I listened to a podcast before my vacation from Bliss Sawyer who is a Mortgage Trainer and blogger. She made a couple points that I thought would apply to real estate professionals who are sitting on the fence about starting a blog:
- Don't think too much about starting your blog. You'll sit, stew and worry yourself out of it. Jump in and start running. (Personally, I haven't looked back and this has been nothing but beneficial to my career--not to mention how much fun I've had and how many wonderful people I have met).
- This is long term marketing. Commit to having your blog for one year. That doesn't mean you have to post ever day. 2-3 times a week is fine (more is better).
- Browse other blogs. You'll get an idea of what styles you like, don't like, etc.
- Comment! If you're a little shy to start, you can always comment "anonymously" without a link back to your website or email.
Be your neighborhood's expert. Attract your perfect client. Blog.
