My thoughts on comments made: I remember the hesitancy I first had in leaving a comment on blogs. Not shy at all, I still felt a little like a rookie in unknown waters. I appreciate the courtesy and feeling of welcome to the blog world of those kind folk. With that in mind I encourage new bloggers to be brave and join the conversations.
However I recommend you be smart about it. Be real. There are those that believe a blog should allow all comments that aren't verbal abuse or foul language to be published. The Seattle P I blog network is an example. I don't buy into that philosophy.
If a comment is left with more self promoting and less to the topic, I delete it. If it is long and rambling and uninteresting I am likely to delete it.
If it fosters a fight over topics such as the bubble, I delete it.
A comment is appreciated when it adds to the topic, even offers a counter opinion to the author. Some authors like huge debates for the sake of traffic. I like great content.
I also think comments are a way to show some personality, poke some fun at a topic - writer - or ones own self.
